Just a quick reminder to our members that we will be meeting the 3rd Saturday this month. So mark your calendars for November 15th instead of the 8th. We will be having a special online voting on a matter of chapter business and the results will be discussed during the monthly meeting. Please be watching your emails for a message from our President about this vote, ballots have to be cast by November 14th to count.
October Meeting
Due to two big conferences most members are attending there will not be a meeting of SMRW in October.
Use this time to write if you are not conferencing. And we’ll see everyone on November 15th.
September — Members Retreat & Booksigning
If you plan on visiting SMRW the second Saturday of this month you may want to reconsider. We will not be holding our regular monthly meeting because we are having a members retreat. It’s a time for our members to come together to plot, to write, to plan, to network.
On Saturday, September 20th from 2 until 5 many of our published members can be found at Hastings bookstore in Maryville, TN. We hope you will come out to meet and support us. We know it will be a fun time.
Call Me Poseidon — August Meeting
Join SMRW for a Cozy Workshop with Trish Milburn at Puleo’s Grille, 110 Cedar Lane, Knoxville, TN 37912 at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 9. Cost: only your lunch, however, seating is limited so please email Donna Wright
Trish will be doing her Call Me Poseidon: Three-Prong Approach to Publishing. This workshop covers the economic reasons for having multiple streams of writing income. She talks about the pros, cons, and cautions related to large publishers, small publishers, and self-publishing.
The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. for an informal meet and greet. Lunch will be served at 11:30 followed by door prizes and the workshop should begin around Noon.
Readers are welcome. Please join us and get to meet a very prolific and fabulous writer.
More about Trish Milburn: During her journey to publication, she finaled in RWA’s top award for unpublished manuscripts, the Golden Heart, eight times. She was fortunate enough to win the Golden Heart twice — in 2004 in Romantic Suspense and in 2007 for Young Adult. On July 24, 2007, she finally got “The Call” and sold her first two books, young adult titles, to Razorbill, a part of Penguin Young Readers Group.
